"Spotlight on sexual integrity" The sexual revolution has brought about moral degeneration, sexual immorality and total sexual chaos, affecting us all, especially our children. We live in a sex-saturated society. Deadly sex traps are everywhere. Pornography, internet, massage parlors, prostitutes, magazines, television, movies, strip shows, lap dancing shows, fueling the unprecedented increase of and downfall into total sexual immorality. Sexual immorality hits frighteningly close to, and is increasingly entering our homes. When you talk to friends you discover nearly all of them know personally of a hurting and painful marriage that is failing of has failed due to infidelity. Today adultery seems to be more rampant than ever. Approximately two out of every three husbands commit adultery and one out of every two wives (Anderson 2000). Jenkins (1993) makes a scary statement: “Ironically, while the secular world is cleaning up it's act due to fear of deadly diseases, Christians blithely proceed, unaware they need hedges to keep them from surprise attacks in their sexual weakness”. One assumption that the enemy can always count on with Christians is ‘it will never happen to me'. Without being aware of the need to protect ourselves against it, we are vulnerable. Fences are erected to protect us. In the same way boundaries (fences) are set up for protection. If you do not watch over these boundaries or carelessly plant seeds outside the boundaries, creatures could be attracted and devour you. Just as it's the little foxes that spoil the vine, so the seemingly small indiscretions add up to major traps. Even if you have the most perfect marriage the enemy will still try to tear down and destroy it by one means or another. The devil always looks for ways to set a snare for you. There are countless numbers of snares and traps out there, and we need to learn what they are and how they work. The enemy may have people out with orders to seduce and destroy you because of the ministry that God has placed in you. He knows how to put bait out when we are vulnerable, lonely, isolated, forgotten, and abused. So your marriage soil is never too good to be beyond the need to build hedges. Anything forbidden usually excites, but the reality is that a sex trap like all traps geared to trap big game has powerful jaws underneath that irresistible bait. Those spring loaded jaws are lined with sharp cutting teeth craft to crush and tear your life to shreds. Instead of the pleasure it promises, the sex trap delivers pain and heartache that can affect your and your family for many generations. God says my people are destroyed by a lack of knowledge. He also says we will know the truth and it will set us free. Have you planted hedges to protect your marriage? Are you committed to walk in sexual integrity in thought, speech, and action?
